Sackets Harbor Quilt Show Theme: The Red Thread
The 2018 Sackets Harbor Quilt Show will celebrate folk art classic “Red Work” as well as quilts made of red fabrics. We’ll trace the history of redwork embroidery, as well as the enduringly popular use of red textiles and threads, from 19th Century American quilted needlework, coverlet art, and Cross Stitch samplers through contemporary quilts that feature a wide range of red fabrics.
We’ve grown: This year’s show will take place over five venues along Main Street in the village. Start your visit at the historic Union Hotel for your Quilt Show Passport, and visit the vendors, People’s Choice Quilts, and Sew Crazy Challenge Exhibit. Then continue to the Sackets Harbor Visitor Center, the Arts Association Gallery, the Sackets Harbor Ballroom, and Hay Memorial Library for more quilts, demos, programs, and exhibits.
What’s the Quilt Show Passport? Pick up your show passport at any of the venues…it’s good for admission in every location at the show. Collect a stamp at each venue and drop your completed passport in the red box to enter a “Swag Basket” drawing, held on Sunday at 3:00 at the Sackets Visitor Center. You must have a stamp from every venue to qualify. Passport Donation: $4.00
Demos, Talks, Vendors, Exhibit, and Program Schedule will be posted in September.
