Linda Hunter, American Quilter’s Society-certified quilt appraiser, is booking appointments for the Sackets Harbor Quilt Show, and will be at the show on Saturday and Sunday. Bring your quilt in for an assessment and appraisal, and to learn how to care for your family heirloom and understand its insurance value.
And, Linda will have a selection of quilts to exhibit from her personal collection, and will hold a Gallery Talk about the art of quilt appraisal, with a question and answer session on Saturday morning at 10:00 until 11:00.
On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on October 12 our 2019 Feature Artist, Mary Knapp, will hold a Gallery Talk at Hay Memorial Library.
Mary’s newest quilt collection, “Patterns in the Wild” is an intriguing look at quilt art inspired by both the artwork of M.C. Escher and the natural world along Lake Ontario’s shoreline and the St. Lawrence River. Join us for Mary’s talk, meet the artist, discuss the vision, and view the show’s exhibit of “Patterns in the Wild” quilts from this series.
The quilt show has space for 20 special local heritage quilts from our Lake Ontario community area that reflect this year’s theme “Cabins & Cottages.”
All available spaces in this popular community exhibit are filled. We have a wide range of local quilts to enjoy, with some interesting stories behind the family quilts and the quilters…see you at the show!
