Tiny Points

IMG_6990.jpgThese precise little blocks for this red and white sampler quilt measure just 4″x4″…tiny points and fine work! The petite squares done up in classic quilt block patterns will be assembled with a border and sashing, and then completed as a wall hanging.

Red Letter Day

IMG_6964.jpgJanuary is a great time to sort through the thread box, find just the right shades of red and spend an afternoon stitching up a project as the snow falls. Here’s a sample of what’s going to be on view at the 2018 Sackets Harbor Quilt Show.

In keeping with the red thread theme, this year the quilt show will have a special needlework exhibit of red work samplers, vintage and contemporary.

TAUNY Program: Selections from the Northern New York Quilt Project

Sackets Harbor Quilt Show announces a TAUNY Program and Exhibit at the show: Selections from the Northern New York Quilt Project
Traditional Arts in Upstate New York’s Executive Director and folklorist Jill Breit spent 14 months on the road with historian Hallie Bond to document quilts old and new in New York’s North Country. The result of this documentary work was shared in TAUNY’s 2016 exhibit, “Warmth, Remembrance, and Art: 200 Years of Quilts and Comforters in Northern New York.
The Sackets Harbor Quilt Show welcomes TAUNY’s Jill Breit to the Saturday program schedule at the Quilt Show to share examples of what she and Hallie found in the North Country. North Country quilts on view as well as TAUNY exhibit materials and program talk with Jill.
Saturday, October 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sackets Harbor Quilt Show

Friendship Quilts

IMG_7433.jpgTown Barn Quilters will exhibit seven “Friendship Quilts” at the 2017 Sackets Harbor Quilt Show. These projects began as a Winter 2017 project, challenging the participants to use fabrics “from the stash” to create their own collection of squares to swap.

See all seven different interpretations, each one featuring the same prints and fabrics, all in the same color way.  Detail photo at right is a sample of the fabrics and squares. Search “Exhibits” on this site for more information.
